Material guide: what our jewellery is made of
Fimonacci Artifacts stands for jewellery made from materials that nature provides. Every material has its own origin and its own properties – and needs its own way of being worked. Here you'll find out what our jewellery is made of and where the materials come from.
From the plant kingdom
Pine cones
We collect the cones for our jewellery ourselves. Among others, we use pine cones and their individual scales as well as cypress, sequoia and eucalyptus cones. Before a cone becomes a piece of jewellery, it is dried, stabilised and oiled. This preserves its natural structure while making it robust enough to wear.
Wood
For our wooden earrings we use wood veneers – from wafer-thin to about 2 mm thick – that are precisely laser-cut. Depending on the design, different woods such as walnut or oak are used, sometimes combined in several layers. The surfaces are sealed with linseed oil, which gives the grain more depth.
From the animal kingdom
Feathers
The feathers for our jewellery come from sustainable breeding. Among others, we use feathers from golden pheasant, silver pheasant, Reeves's pheasant, Lady Amherst's pheasant and common pheasant, as well as goose, peacock and ostrich feathers. Every feather is cleaned, disinfected and chosen by hand so that colours and markings go together harmoniously.

From the mineral kingdom
Gemstones and minerals
We select our gemstones and minerals in person at international mineral fairs, paying attention to colour, pattern and clean workmanship. Our range now includes more than 50 types of stone – including amethyst, aquamarine, amazonite, agate, jasper, labradorite, lapis lazuli, kyanite, serpentine and rock crystal – in shapes such as sphere, cube, tube or disc.
Natural stones are grown materials: shade, grain and small inclusions vary from stone to stone. Differences from the product photos are therefore not a flaw but what makes every piece unique.

Metals
We make settings, rings and ear hooks from 925 sterling silver, brass and surgical steel, among others. Our ear hook guide explains which metal suits which ears.
Shaped by hand
Polymer clay in millefiori technique
For our polymer clay dread beads, many coloured strands of modelling clay are assembled into a pattern that only becomes visible in cross-section. This creates light beads with our own designs in small batches.

Our standard
We use materials whose origin we know and make every piece individually in our workshop in Waldkirch in the Black Forest. That also means: no two pieces of jewellery are exactly alike.
